Our Curriculum
Core learning and developmental areas (including executive function, social-emotional, literacy, math, science, art, and fine and gross motor skills) are integrated throughout the day both explicitly in lessons and implicitly in the classroom environment. To ensure our students' success in all of these areas, we track progress according to the Washington State Early Learning and Development Guidelines.
Aligned with our play-based and child-led philosophy all of our teachers follow an emergent curriculum. This approach to learning centers the children in each classroom at that time, following their curiosity and desire to explore the world around them.
The role of our teachers in an emergent curriculum is to have a full understanding of the children's interests and facilitate conversations about what the children would like to learn more about. In response to students' inquiries, our teachers create or source meaningful learning activities and design their classrooms in such a way that invites students to explore the month's theme in ways that deepen their understanding.
